IDERHA teams meet for a deep-dive in its infrastructure

Teams from Fraunhofer ISST and Fraunhofer ITMP, University of Luxembourg, J&J and Lygature met in Dortmund in September for a deep-dive into the development status of the federated infrastructure, which is built in IDERHA. The IDERHA consortium of 37 public and private partners in Europe and the USA, led by Fraunhofer and J&J Medical GmbH, develops one of the first pan-European health data spaces to enable patients and healthcare providers to benefit from novel health solutions. 

With federated learning, several players, such as clinics, pharmaceutical companies or research centers, are enabled to jointly train machine learning models without having to physically merge the data. IDERHA aims to demonstrate that this data-driven approach adds value for patients through data-driven disease management and decision making, as well as personalized treatment options.

The IDERHA researchers used the workshop in Dortmund to discuss the core services of the IDERHA platform and planned the road ahead towards onboarding the first data providers.

On the second day Prof. Boris Otto, head of Fraunhofer ISST and chairman of the Fraunhofer Information and Communication Technology Group (ICT Group) joined for the discussion on operating models and partnering opportunities in order to ensure a sustainable impact on leveraging real world data in compliance with EHDS.
