IDERHA launches 5,000km charity Challenge to support cancer research
The IDERHA 5000km Challenge is officially underway, bringing project partners together in a collective effort to promote healthy lifestyles and raise funds for cancer research.
The initiative was launched during the IDERHA eSCOM Meeting 2026 in Helsinki, where participants kicked off the challenge with a group walk through the city. Reflecting the collaborative spirit of the IDERHA project, the challenge encourages partners across Europe to work together towards a shared goal.
Over the next two months, IDERHA consortium members will aim to collectively cover 5,000 kilometres through walking, running, cycling, swimming, and other distance-based activities. The challenge will run until 30 November, coinciding with the end of Lung Cancer Awareness Month.
Alongside the sporting goal, the initiative is raising funds for KWF Kankerbestrijding, supporting efforts to advance cancer research and improve outcomes for patients.
Every kilometre contributes to the collective target, and every donation helps make a difference. Through this initiative, IDERHA aims not only to strengthen connections across the consortium but also to contribute to a cause that aligns closely with the project's mission of improving healthcare through better use of health data and research.
Supporters can contribute to the fundraising campaign and help turn 5,000 kilometres of activity into meaningful support for cancer research.
