Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is an uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in one or both lungs.

It is estimated that in 27 EU countries in 2020, lung cancer accounted for 12% of all new cancer diagnoses (excluding non-melanoma skin cancers), and 20% of all deaths due to cancer.

The five-year survival rate in Europe is between 6-16% after diagnosis. Estimated distribution of new cases of lung cancer in 2020 is strongly biased to people of age 45 and older.

IDERHA is aligned with the key priorities of Europe Beating Cancer Plan.
