IDERHA for Data Holders

IDERHA (Integration of Heterogeneous Data and Evidence towards Regulatory and HTA Acceptance) is a European public-private partnership launched in April 2023. This pioneering project addresses the obstacles in accessing, integrating and analysing health data to maximize their value for patient care and medical research.

Vision

In IDERHA we will be an open, disease agnostic, federated data space which enables connectivity, access, use and reuse of digital health data, and develop consensus policy recommendations on health data access and heterogeneous health research (e.g. RWE) for regulatory and HTA decision-making.

Goals

A federated data space for the seamless access to diverse health data.
AI/ML algorithms, validated on EU data sets, to support more efficient and accurate risk profiling, malignancy risk prediction, diagnosis, and prognosis on lung cancer.
A digital application to remotely monitor the individual patient post-discharge health status.
Extension of the OMOP common data model.
Enabling personal health data environment, bridging the gaps in the current standards and FAIRification framework including necessary extensions of standards.
Subject’s specific health data connected, and accessible for secondary use.
Consensus on policy recommendations for the development of laws, guidelines and policies adapted to the current and future states of digitalisation, and consistent with secondary use of health data for research and innovation, as well as acceptability of RWD for regulatory and HTA decision making.

Initial Focus on Lung Cancer

IDERHA is part of the Europe Beating Cancer Plan. It will link and analyse, with artificial intelligence and machine learning, diverse human health data to improve early detection of lung cancer and the quality of life for individuals with experience with lung cancer. IDERHA has the task to demonstrate that this data-driven approach has an added value for patients where clinical co-decision making and personalized disease management is possible.

Pan-European Health Data Space

IDERHA is building one of the first pan-European health data spaces and is constantly aligned with the implementation of the proposal European Health Data Space (EHDS) in the following years. To enable patients and healthcare providers to benefit from novel health solutions, IDERHA seeks to accelerate policy development. Thereby, IDERHA aids regulatory approval and Health Technology Assessments (HTA).

Funding

IDERHA is one of the first research projects funded through the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI), a public-private partnership (PPP) between the European Union and the European life sciences industries. IDERHA has a budget of € 42.7 million and will run for 5 years (1 April 2023 until 31 March 2028).
